Overworked an old skribble of mine for a portfolio book, that my Illustrator’s organisation will be publishing later this year.

And yes, here is another mailing for the McDonald’s Junior Club. This time it all takes place in the wonderful underwater world of the Caribbean. A very nice job to work on during the cold and dark winter hours. More pictures in the illustration section in my portfolio.

The nice guys of the Kings and Queens Weekender, a Ska & Soul Weekender in Hamburg, asked me a little while ago, if I couldn’t illustrate this year’s poster for the event. Of course I agreed. I’m quite happy with the result.

Recently I received some copies of the last-mentioned children’s book for the Telekom, that I did the illustrations for. And they do look very nice. A few days ago I opened the Nido magazine, a German periodical for parents and I was in for a surprise: the little book was stuck to a Telekom ad. With a run of 150.000 copies that makes a lot of readers.

I’m almost done for this year, well, a few years still on the list, but before I get to them I want to wish all my visitors a very happy christmas and a lovely, hopefully sucessful new year. One of the nicest projects of this year were the illustrations I did for a childen’s book for the Deutsche Telekom, explaining how internet television works, together with Ketchum Pleon Düsseldorf. In the next weeks I’ll put up a few pictures to the portfolio section, but you can take a look at the ebook already. Of course there’s also a print version of the book, which you can get at your local Telekom shop. Get one, they are nice!

Children’s book illustrations for ‘Das Miniatur Wunderland‘, Ellermann Verlag

Here’s one I almost forgot to mention. I actually don’t know why because it’s such a nice book. The people of Ellermann Verlag asked me to do some sketchy illustrations for the book ‘Das Miniatur Wunderland’, portraying the huge indoor-modeltrain exhibition in Hamburg. The book by Petra Steckelmann tells the story of little Jannis travelling all over the world in search of his little dog Charly. Having seen the exhibition a fwe times myself I was happy to contribute to the project. You can get the book here

It’s that time of the year again, and we start with another trip around the world with Santa, his reindeer and a sleigh full of Krombacher beer. On the website of Krombacher the dynamic duo stops every day at different destination. Guess where and win prices. Agency: wysiwyg

Those last weeks were very busy, so busy that I didn’t get to putting up new stuff to the site. Anyway, here’s one promotion event that happened during summer in Germany’s EDEKA supermarkets, collecting stickers of endangered species, in cooperation with The WWF. The WWF used this event to promote their youth program, which is why my character ‘Paddy’ appears on the promotion Material and the very nice sticker album. Have a look.

Today the Olympic Games in London start. Right on time to post the illustrations I did for McDonald’s earlier this year, for their actual Junior and Family Club mailing. Turned out nicely. Of course I put some illustrations from it into the portfolio. Check them out. Let the games begin!

Children’s book illustrations for ‘Das Miniatur Wunderland‘

After several years of slumber, the glorious crew of the ‘Herrensahne’- magazine has again joined forces and created a new book, Herrensahne XII – The Meaning of Life. Our thickest work to date, with over one hundred pages, and – hold on tight – in COLOR! The book appeared on the occasion of this year’s Comic Clash at the Comic Comic Salon in Erlangen where it was already celebrated with compliments. Now it is high time to bring the baby home, and present it to its birthplace. That is why we celebrate this coming Saturday, from 21 h in the gallery ‘teilmöbliert’, Lorettostrasse 9, in Düsseldorf Unterbilk our big release party. The musical accompaniment provided by the fantastic duo Ponyboy from Dusseldorf. Then it’s a whole night of dancing, drinking and chatting about comics and the end of the world.
The exhibition ‘comic hits object’ with Herrensahne and the designers of teilmöbliert runs until the end of July. See you there!

Erlangen Comic Salon: On thursday I’ll be heading down south to the biggest Comicevent of Germany. This time it will be especially exciting as the big Comic-Clash will be taking place, a competition between German Comic-fanzines, which we will be joining with our latest Herrensahne. If you want, support us with the voting of the public, otherwise cross your fingers for the results of the jury or the other mag-makers.

Of course I’ll be sitting at the booth of my publisher Zwerchfell and sign my books, at booth 102, on the first floor. These are the official dates of mine: friday, 8th of june 12-1 pm and 4-5 pm and saturday 9th of june 11 am – 12 pm and 4 – 5 pm. On sunday sporadically. Also I’ll bring new prints of Fahrradmod with me. You’ll find them at the booth of the Kwimbi Webshop, where you’ll get them online some time later as well.

A little late to announce this, but it happened: after years of silence, our price-winning Comic-magazine ‘Herrensahne‘ is back from the grave. And what a beauty it is, our finest issue so far I might say, dealing with the meaning of life.
Over 100 pages on beautiful Munken paper, and in FULL colour. Me made this issues as an entry to the ‘Comic Clash’, the battle of Germany Comic-Fanzines, happening for the first time. Our twelfth book contains stories of Mex Fiedler, Stephan Lomp, Till Lassmann, Roman Klonek, Christian Lessing, Jojo Ensslin, Jørn Rings and me. Steam Noir is a comic series settled in a Steampunk Universe, drawn by Felix Mertikat and written by Benjamin Schreurder. Their publishing house Cross Cult asked me to draw my own interpretation of the main characters for the appendage of their second book. Here it is, of course I couldn’t stop myself to add an element of my own comic-universe.

One of the nicest jobs of last year was illustrating the Junior Club Mailing of McDonald’s together with the people of Heye, Munich. A lot of work, but very satisfying, the nerd in me enjoyed the ‘space’ subject of course. You’ll find the artwork in the illustration section. And here are some additional photos of the final product.

Since ages the infamous crew of Herrensahne got together again to battle against other German Comic anthologies in the all-new Comic Clash. May the best one win, the rest is for the ‘birds’.

Here are some movies I made for the Wisebits project. Wisebits are short animations meant to educate young people about philosophy and science in a playful manner. The concept was devised by Bas Haring, the university of Leiden and the RVU. 200 Wisebits were ordered and produced by the RVU. Those four deal with the following questions:

What makes things beautiful?

What makes you fall in love?

Is there a science that’s futile?

Can anything be privatized?

It finally happened: after quite some time I’m happy to announce that my all new Web portfolio is online. I made a clean cut and got rid of my old pages, and put myself in the professional hand of falise.com who build this website around a wordpress structure. This fact enables me to host my website much better, and to put up new work quicker. Also I will link those new images with facebook, would be nice to present my work to a broader audience with this. What I am also really happy about is this new feature of putting together your individual PDF, so you can present my work to clients or the art staff right away.
